Prof. Dr. rer. nat Wieland Meyer: PhD in Genetics 1992 Humboldt University of Berlin, Berlin, Germany, postdoc 1992-1995 at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC, USA, in 1995 established the Molecular Mycology Research Laboratory at the University of Sydney/Westmead Hospital, currently Prof. for Molecular Medical Mycology at Sydney Medical School/University of Sydney, research focus: evolution, phylogeny, speciation, population genetics, genomics, molecular epidemiology, strain typing, molecular identification of human/animal fungal pathogens, public health preparedness to respond to fungal disease outbreaks, and fungal pathogenesis. 200 peer reviewed research papers. General Secretary of the International Society of Human and Animal Mycology (ISHAM) and executive committee member of the International Mycological Association (IMA).
