The Food Microbiology SIG is a community of researchers, teachers, regulators and industry with a common interest in microbes associated with food safety, spoilage and manufacture across all food commodities.

Professor Gary Dykes is currently Acting Head, School of Public Health at Curtin University in Perth. He holds a PhD in microbiology from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa and is a FASM. Gary is an active researcher in the area of public health microbiology with a focus on enteric bacterial foodborne pathogens and has published widely in this area.
