Biennial AVS meetings bring together virologists from around Australasia to promote scientific exchange and collaboration in a relaxed atmosphere. We aim to cover diverse virology disciplines including molecular virology, systems virology, virus discovery, antiviral and vaccine development, clinical virology, Indigenous virology, structural virology, immunology and innate immunity. 

The meeting will feature keynote and invited presentations from leading international and national virologists. We also welcome and encourage submitted abstracts from students and early career researchers.

With over 25 years since the last IMUC, the objectives of the IMUC-III conference are to:

Reconnect and bring together international leading experts, medical professionals, early career researchers and students from across the globe working on (or interested in) M. ulcerans.

Share experiences, learnings and research on how Buruli ulcer and the causative agent M. ulcerans is being studied, monitored, investigated and treated. 

Promote neglected skin diseases such as Buruli ulcer that impact lower-, middle- and high-income countries to varying degrees and highlight the importance of raising awareness of the severity and spread these diseases, and Buruli ulcer in particular. 

Showcase the progress made in addressing key issues of preventing and treating Buruli ulcer from public health and clinical perspectives.

The Asian Pacific Congress of Protistology (APCOP-V) 2024 is the new branding for the 5th edition of the Asian Congress of Protistology, to be held for the first time in the Southern Hemisphere, jointly with the Annual Meeting of the Australasian Society for Phycology and Aquatic Botany (ASPAB). APCOP-V will gather students, academics, researchers, and professionals from the Asian Pacific region (and beyond) to showcase the latest research on protists, microalgae, and aquatic plants applying cutting-edge technologies, brainstorm ideas, and forge new connections.
