New National Awards!

We have 3 new ASM National Awards that you can apply for!

1. ASM EARLY CAREER RESEARCHER AWARDS

This award provides the opportunity for one ECR member from each ASM State Branch to attend and give an oral presentation at the ASM Annual Scientific Meeting.

Recipients of the ASM ECR Awards are expected to give a presentation at the current year’s Annual Scientific Meeting. They will receive a full conference registration to the Annual Scientific Meeting, and funding towards airfares/accommodation (see each state for specific inclusions).

2. ASM COMMUNICATIONS AWARD

Awarded annually to recognise contributions in communications and engagement in the field of microbiology. 

The recipient receives a certificate given at the meeting’s award ceremony, 1-year ASM membership and full conference registration to attend the Annual Scientific Meeting. The recipient will also be invited to contribute an article on a communications topic of their choice for publication in the Microbiology Australia journal and offered the opportunity to develop communications content for the ASM.

3. ASM STUDENT & ECR INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL AWARD

Awarded annually, this award enables up to two PhD students and up to two Early Career Researchers (ECRs) from the ASM to attend an international Microbiology meeting and combine this with a visit to a research laboratory. 

There are four awards available each year, 2 for PhD student ASM members and 2 for ECR ASM members up to 5 years post PhD.

The total award will be a maximum of AUD$4000. Eligible expenditure includes conference registration, costs towards travel to the conference, accommodation costs during the conference, travel to the collaborating institution and accommodation costs while visiting the collaborating institution.
